Exciting changes!

BB's newest CD project "Hymn" is now in the recording studio. Look for the CD to be released in late November or December.

Stay tuned for dates of "live" Christmas concerts (the "Christmas Unplugged Tour.")

The Brethren Brass Website is being redesigned. Tired of that annoying beat in the background? US TOO! GONE!!! We hope you like the new look and feel.

New CD Title Chosen, Thanks to YOU!

The masses have spoken! Garnering nearly 75% of the vote, "Jubilate Deo" will be the name of the upcoming Brethren Brass CD! Latin translations are varied: 'Shout with Joy to God', 'Sing to the Lord', or 'O be joyful in the Lord.' Besides being a perfect fit with our new music and The Brethren Brass vision, one of the exciting new arrangements is titled "Jubilate Deo!" Thanks for being involved!

Recording Project Currently Under Way

Yes, The Brass is at it again. They're in the recording studio RIGHT NOW and plan on releasing a new CD in late Summer. The project is unnamed at this time, but a theme of Jubilate Deo seems to be emerging. An offering of celebration, that seems fitting, as our two trombonists have just been married! Congrats to Heather and Ryan!

Artistic Aclaim for "A Brethen Brass Christmas"

Our Christmas CD hasn't exactly topped the charts, but that's par for the course for a Christmas CD that was released in April. We think folks will fall in love in November and December. In the mean time, those in the know - musicians, composers, educators, artists, have indeed fallen in love and truly understand the significance and emotional connection to the arrangements and performances sealed onto the circular polycarbonate.
Thanks for your support, and please be with us as we begin the birth of a new project early in Summer 2010.

Blessings,
Robert, Brad, Ryan, Heather and Jeff

Makin' Copies

The new BB Christmas master CD has been finalized, the physical CD tops have all been lasered, and the first batch have been burned. It's been a very long process - a labor of love, as they say. Looking forward to the official April 1st release.

Mnozil Brass Thriller

We saw Mnozil Brass last night live @ the USAF National Museum in Dayton, Ohio (free, by the way!!!) Yes, they we amazing! Probably the most entertaining concert we've ever attended. They slipped MJ's "Thriller" in. I must say that we (specifically JEFF) out played them, but they kicked our rears in dancing. They did the whole Thriller video dance, complete with crotch grab. Ouch! How about it Heather? Up for the Thriller dance, next time? : )

In a non-related subject, our "Christmas in 60 Seconds" video (from the new "A Brethren Brass Christmas" CD, to be released next week!) is up on FaceBook and YouTube. We truly ARE the Masters of IRONY! ; )

Mixing complete

All songs have been recorded and mixed. MP3's are up on the Brethren Brass NEW MP3 page: http://www.brethrenbrass.com/newmp3.htm
Standard MP3 disclaimer: Remember that compressed MP3's (especially brass music) loses of depth, richness and "presence" in the process. The price we pay for small files...

Next step - we listen to the recorded songs for several days and re-balance as needed. Hopefully the CD will be released late next week. Get an early jump on Christmas 2010! ; )

Photo/Video fun

The whole gang (except for Jeff again) met up tonight for a photo session and to shoot the video for our new CD release (coming soon.) A good time was had by all - even Heather! It'll be worth the wait.
Thanks to the trombones for their visit! Adios, amigos! One of these days, Jeff will be around for a shoot. We know he is way busy playing on two coasts and appreciate him from afar!

Trombones finish recording!

The trombones rolled into town this week and did a super job finishing up recording the last couple of songs for the new CD last night. Next up: Mixing and mastering. Timeline: hopefully a week or two. The whole gang (minus Jeff, of course) is meeting up tonight for some PR photos and, to Heather's delight (NOT), shoot some footage for a new video for the CD release. We want to have everything ready for the upcoming Christmas... uh, SPRING season! : )

Note to self (from Robert)

Never play trumpet/cornet after brushing teeth with Arm & Hammer Baking Soda and Peroxide toothpaste. Brings things (i.e. piston valves) to a screeching halt.

This has been a public service announcement from The Brethren Brass. Blog on...

New CD nearly finished

It's been a good few weeks for The Brethren Brass' Christmas CD project. We finished recording Brad's horn parts and Robert finished his cornet and tuba pieces with Jeff. All that remains is finishing 3 or 4 parts with the trombones, who are scheduled to swing into town next week. Then comes some remixing, then release. Uh, Merry Christmas! This project has taken nearly all of Robert's free time since last January, so he will be glad when it is done! We think you'll enjoy our nearly 60 minutes of very unique Christmas music: some witty, some poignant and touching.
You can check our progress and listen to demo MP3 work files on our website at:

Stay tuned...
